Prospects of Eternity by Edward Wriothesley Russell is a thought-provoking exploration of one of the central questions within psychical research: what, if anything, happens to human consciousness after physical death? First published in 1982, the book examines ideas concerning survival, the afterlife and the possibility that human personality or consciousness may continue beyond bodily death. Bibliographic catalogues classify the work under parapsychology, the future life, eternity and death. Theosofie
Sometimes listed under the expanded title Prospects of Eternity: Debunking Death, the book asks a deceptively simple question: where do we go after we die? Russell approaches the subject from the perspective of a writer already interested in areas lying at the boundaries of conventional science, consciousness and psychical phenomena. AbeBooks
Rather than simply treating death as a theological or philosophical abstraction, Russell considers the subject in relation to evidence and ideas associated with parapsychology and survival research. The result belongs to a long tradition of twentieth-century literature attempting to investigate whether experiences and phenomena associated with death might provide clues to the nature of human consciousness.
Russell was also the author of Design for Destiny and Report on Radionics: Science of the Future, reflecting his wider interest in unconventional areas of scientific and psychical enquiry. Goodreads
